Cette recherche débute par un bref historique du sac à main, de ses origines antiques à ses incarnations modernes, considérées comme des classiques du luxe, tels que le Birkin (Hermès), le Kelly (Hermès) et le Speedy (Louis Vuitton). Elle examine ensuite les influences sociales qui ont façonné la demande de sacs à main de luxe et influencé leur conception. Afin de comprendre ce qui constitue le « luxe » et comment certains sacs à main passent d’objets du quotidien à symboles d’opulence, les matériaux et les procédés de fabrication employés par des marques comme Gucci, Hermès et Louis Vuitton sont analysés. Par ailleurs, s’appuyant sur un travail de terrain, cette étude examine le rôle des boutiques dans la construction d’un sentiment d’exclusivité autour des sacs à main de luxe. Enfin, elle aborde le rôle de la publicité et des réseaux sociaux dans la diffusion des idées relatives au luxe.; A luxury handbag is far from a simple receptacle; it is an object of devotion. Handbags are popular, versatile, and utilitarian items that lend themselves to continual reinvention. Luxury brands exploit their diversity and desirability. This thesis will focus on how handbags are transformed into sumptuous items, analyzing both material and metaphoric dimensions that contribute to their formation as luxury articles. It will also explore how handbags function as a means of self-expression for their owners, embodying particular values and beliefs. The thesis begins with a brief history of the handbag, from its precursors in Antiquity to modern incarnations, considered to be luxury classics, such as the Birkin (Hermès), the Kelly (Hermès) and the Speedy (Louis Vuitton). Social influences are then, examined that have shaped demand for luxury handbags and influenced their design. Cet état temporaire implique une déconnexion du dormeur vis-à-vis de son environnement pendant de longues périodes, ce qui laisse supposer que cette diminution prolongée de conscience joue un rôle crucial. De manière intéressante, la conscience ressurgit pendant la nuit lorsque le dormeur rêve, et parfois de manière remarquable sous forme de rêves lucides, où le rêveur prend conscience de son état de rêve et peut parfois même le contrôler. L’exploration des signatures cérébrales associées à ces transitions entre états de conscience permet non seulement de mieux comprendre les corrélats neurophysiologiques de la conscience – un mystère encore non résolu –, mais aussi d’éclairer certaines fonctions sous-jacentes du sommeil et du rêve. L’électroencéphalographie haute-densité offre une résolution spatiale bien supérieure à celle de l’électroencéphalographie classique, tout en demeurant non invasive et adaptée à l’étude du sommeil. Au Québec, comme dans d’autres espaces occidentaux, la thématique migratoire est devenue un sujet incontournable du débat public (Benson, 2014), et elle se constitue progressivement comme un enjeu-clé, autour duquel se dessine un beat journalistique qu’on proposera d’appeler « journalisme de migration ». En s’intéressant aux journalistes qui aspirent à devenir spécialistes de cette thématique, cette thèse explore les rapports que ces professionnels entretiennent avec leur métier, et surtout avec leur beat et avec la thématique migratoire. In Quebec, as in other Western spaces, the issue of migration has become a hot-button topic (Benson, 2014), and it is gradually becoming a key issue around which a journalistic beat is emerging, which we propose to call “migration journalism”. By focusing on journalists who aspire to specialize in immigration, this thesis explores the relationships that these professionals have with their profession, and especially with their beat and with the question of migration. Drawing on the works of philosopher John Dewey, in particular his theory of valuation (consolidated in 1939), as well as the notion of motion-setting proposed by Valérie Lépine (2016), this research work has shown how these journalists make sense of their movement towards migration journalism, notably through valuations of their work and the subjects that compose it. Ce mémoire interroge l’impact de la construction du regard féminin dans la réalisation cinématographique des femmes cinéastes par le biais de la réception critique. La Révolution tranquille, cette période charnière qui a vu naître les premières réalisatrices québécoises modernes, témoigne de l’émergence d’une écriture minoritaire qui s’est produite à l’époque à la marge entre liberté et institutionnalisation. La réception critique de leurs œuvres soulignait durement la différence dans la représentation des femmes à l’écran par l’usage d’un langage singulier qui s’éloignait des codes institutionnels. Ces exercices intellectuels discriminaient souvent ces œuvres en les fragmentant formellement et en interrogeant leur légitimité narrative. Les jeunes cinéastes étaient alors poussées dans leurs retranchements et revenaient ensuite avec une posture créative nouvelle qui témoigne de l’émergence du cinéma féministe au Québec. C’est un docu-fiction qui critique et théorise une démarche artistique en révélant le dispositif cinématographique qui déconstruit la frontière entre l’intime et le politique. This thesis examines the impact of the construction of the female gaze in women’s filmmaking through critical reception. The Quiet Revolution, a pivotal period that witnessed the emergence of Quebec’s first modern women filmmakers, marks the rise of a minoritarian mode of expression that developed at the margins between freedom and institutionalization. The critical reception of their works often harshly emphasized the difference in the representation of women on screen, through the use of a singular critical language that departed from established institutional codes. These intellectual exercises frequently marginalized these works by formally fragmenting them and questioning their narrative legitimacy. Le premier groupe d’images est constitué des aquarelles à l’origine des gravures de l’Herbarum vivae eicones (1530) du médecin Otto Brunfels. Retrouvées en 1930, les aquarelles de Hans Weiditz (1495-1537) sont de véritables portraits des plantes ayant servi de modèles, les montrant avec leurs tiges brisées et leurs fleurs fanées. Le deuxième corpus est composé des aquarelles botaniques de Gherardo Cibo (1512-1600), un aristocrate, savant et artiste autodidacte, qui représenta les plantes au sein de leur environnement. Enfin les aquarelles de Jacopo Ligozzi (1547-1627) documentaient les collections botaniques du grand-duc de Toscane. The first group of images consists of the watercolors that were the basis for the engravings of Herbarum vivae eicones (1530) by the physician Otto Brunfels. Discovered in 1930, the watercolors by Hans Weiditz (1495-1537) are true portraits of the plants that served as models, showing them with broken stems and wilted flowers. The second corpus consists of the botanical watercolors by Gherardo Cibo (1512-1600), an aristocrat, scholar, and self-taught artist, who represented plants within their environment. Finally, the watercolors by Jacopo Ligozzi (1547- 1627) documented the botanical collections of the Grand Duke of Tuscany. Like Weiditz, Ligozzi painted portraits of plants, showing leaves nibbled by butterflies, fruits eaten by birds, etc. We hypothesized that these watercolors evoked, through clues modulated by detail and color, a conception of nature as a network of relationships between living things and their environment, now referred to as an ecosystem. Il s’appuie sur l’étude de deux artistes chicanas : Danie Cansino et Yvette Mayorga. Ces artistes s’inscrivent dans la continuité du mouvement chicano (El Movimiento), apparu dans les années 1960. Ce dernier vise à valoriser une identité transculturelle et à en tirer de la fierté, dans un contexte étatsunien où cet héritage et les individus qui en sont porteurs sont souvent invisibilisés. L’expérience des Chicanas est particulièrement étudiée ici, car elles subissent un double assujettissement fondé sur l’ethnie et le genre. En effet, la communauté chicana demeure largement patriarcale et religieuse, tandis que la société dominante se dit pleine d’opportunités pour les femmes, mais continue de faire preuve de racisme et de sexisme à leur égard. Le vécu des femmes de couleur est au cœur de la pratique de Cansino et de Mayorga, en particulier celui des Chicanas. Les deux s’insèrent dans le récit d’une histoire de l’art majoritairement blanche, masculine et occidentale en s’inspirant des « grands maîtres » de l’histoire de l’art, tels que Caravaggio et François Boucher. Elles « chicanisent » ce canon en joignant ces esthétiques à des signes et symboles de leur culture chicana et en se référant aux cultures populaires mexicaines, latinas, ainsi qu’étatsuniennes. De ce fait, elles introduisent l’histoire de l’art chicano dans le récit occidental, mais l’inverse est également vrai. Tandis que les premières générations d’artistes chicano×as souhaitaient se distancier de l’art occidental pour plutôt s’inspirer de l’art mexicain et d’un passé préhispanique idéalisé, Cansino et Mayorga viennent insérer l’art occidental dans l’art chicano, afin de créer un art mestizo (métis). C’est en engloutissant cet art occidental, puis en le combinant avec des éléments tels que l’art du tatouage et la couleur rose, que Cansino et Mayorga dépassent les anciennes définitions des esthétiques chicanas proposées par Tomás Ybarra-Frausto et Amalia Mesa-Bains, pour finalement laisser la place à un art et à une esthétique post-chicanx.; This thesis focuses on the evolution and updating of Chicano aesthetics. It is based on the study of two Chicano artists: Danie Cansino and Yvette Mayorga. These artists are part of the Chicano movement (El Movimiento), which emerged in the 1960s. The movement aims to promote a transcultural identity and instil pride in it, in a US context where this heritage and the individuals who carry it are often invisible. The experience of Chicanas is particularly studied here, as they suffer double subjugation based on ethnicity and gender. La faisabilité a été évaluée à partir des taux de recrutement, d’initiation du traitement, d’adhérence (complétion ≥ 80 % des séances) et de rétention au suivi. La sécurité et la tolérabilité ont été examinées à partir de la survenue d’événements indésirables et de leur sévérité. Les critères secondaires incluaient l’évolution du craving (SCQ-B) et de l’usage de stimulants (Timeline Follow-Back). Des analyses exploratoires ont examiné certains symptômes psychiatriques associés mesurés à l’aide d’échelles standardisées (PHQ-9, GAD-7, SSSA, RRS). Parmi 80 personnes référées, 19 ont consenti (24 %) à participer et 16 ont initié (20 %) le traitement. Douze participants (75 % de ceux ayant débuté le traitement) ont complété au moins 80 % des séances prévues. La rétention au suivi était de 58 % à 12 semaines. The CALL Private Law Library Special Interest Group met October 2 for the first meeting of the 2024-2025 session. This year we are going to focus on soft skills in private law libraries, and we started with reviewing statistics and data-driven decision making. These decisions can be as simple as which books to weed based on circulation statistics to as in-depth as which products to cancel based on little use. We welcomed a number of private law librarians for a rousing discussion on the use of stats, how we make decisions, how we report the statistics to our managing partner / C-level team / lawyers, and everything in between.  We ended with a round table, as we often do, and came up with some ideas for future sessions, including how private firms bill / don’t bill for online research, how to use the stats to inform new training sessions, and will AI ever be able to run stats for us?  We concluded with a call for private law librarians to volunteer with CALL’s mentorship program, which is making a comeback this year. Submissions for the 2025 CALL Research Grant are due February 24, 2025. Kim Clarke was the recipient of the 2024 CALL Research Grant for her project entitled “Reliance on Original Research at the Alberta Court of Appeal.” Kim’s research will analyze the volume of original research the Alberta Court of Appeal relies on in their decisions as compared to the case law cited by the parties in their factums. American Researchers have explored this and related citation issues and this would bring similar research to a Canadian appeals court. As the draft explains: \"The current legal provision related to Crown copyright in Canada is found in Section 12 of the Copyright Act. It is extremely comprehensive in scope, granting the Crown copyright to any work that has been 'prepared or published under the direction or control of Her Majesty or any government department.' It also preserves the ancient royal prerogative or privilege that predates copyright law and it is silent about term length for unpublished works, leading to the assumption that these works are protected by copyright in perpetuity.
